HIIT Classes

Interval Training That Delivers Results

One of the most popular fitness trends of the past few years, HIIT will make you sweat more than you ever expected. HIIT stands for high-intensity interval training and consists of quick, intense bursts of exercise followed by short recovery periods. HIIT classes get your heart pumping and your blood flowing and will require you to work hard.

World Gym® is so excited to offer this popular group workout class to our members, as it’s a great class for just about everyone. Whether you are a first-timer or an avid gym-goer, HIIT is right for people of all experience and fitness levels.

If you’re not sure which classes or workouts are best for your needs, our trainers would love to discuss your goals so that we can point you in the right direction.

  1. HIIT (High-Intensity Interval Training):
  • HIIT is a cardiovascular exercise strategy that alternates short bursts of intense anaerobic exercise with brief periods of rest or low-intensity recovery.
    • It's designed to push your limits, boost metabolism, improve cardiovascular health, and burn calories efficiently. HIIT workouts can vary widely, incorporating exercises like sprinting, jumping, or bodyweight movements.

2. HISS (High-Intensity Steady State):

  • HISS is another form of high-intensity exercise but involves maintaining a challenging intensity level for a longer, continuous duration, typically 30 minutes or more.
    • Unlike HIIT, HISS doesn't involve intervals; instead, it sustains a high level of effort throughout the workout.
This approach can improve endurance, enhance aerobic fitness, and promote fat loss.

3. MAF (Maximum Aerobic Function):

  • MAF is a training methodology developed by Dr. Phil Maffetone, a sports medicine expert. It aims to optimize aerobic endurance and overall health.
    • The key principle of MAF training is to keep your heart rate at or below your maximum aerobic threshold during exercise. This helps improve fat-burning efficiency and reduces the risk of overtraining.
MAF training often involves slower-paced, longer workouts to build aerobic capacity.

4. Strength Training:

  • Strength training is a form of exercise focused on increasing muscular strength, endurance, and size.
    • It involves resistance against muscles through exercises like weightlifting, bodyweight exercises, or the use of resistance bands and machines.
    • Strength training can target specific muscle groups or engage the entire body. It's essential for building lean muscle mass, improving metabolism, and enhancing overall physical performance.
    • It is also beneficial for bone health and can reduce the risk of injuries.

Each of these training methods offers unique benefits and can be part of a well-rounded fitness routine. The choice of which to incorporate depends on individual fitness goals and preferences.

Here are some of the benefits of HIIT:

  • Fast and effective. Short on time or not a fan of long workouts? Then you’ll love our HIIT classes. They will make you sweat, they will make your muscles burn, and they will deliver results. They’ll do all of that in a short period of time, allowing you to get in and out of the gym in less than an hour.
  • No equipment necessary. Though some of our classes may use some weights or other workout equipment, HIIT primarily uses bodyweight exercises, making it very convenient and accessible for just about everyone.
  • Increase your metabolism. The high intensity of these workouts will speed up your metabolic rate during your workout and long after. Why does this matter? Because you’ll be burning fat long after the class is over and you leave the gym.
  • Easy to learn. HIIT keeps things pretty simple. Since there are no complex machines or workout equipment and most of the workout incorporates bodyweight exercises, these workouts are easy to learn and will be led by a certified instructor. HIIT workouts are also flexible and can be done just about anywhere. We offer space throughout our facilities that will be perfect for those times when you want to try HIIT on your own.
